This book, published under the patronage of Italian Ministry of Arts and Culture and Regione Veneto, is a guide to visit Lazzaretto Nuovo and a chance to study in depth the island.
It collects many essays edited by experts on different subjects that mostly focus on archaeology and naturalistic environment of the lagoon.
The history and the events of the island –human presence since ancient times, medieval finds, its medical use under Serenissima and the military function in the XIX century- are described in a clear, strict and fascinating way.
The essays are subdivided by subject, some of them are published here for the first time: they contain the results of the most recent archaeologic investigations on the island, with cards and graphic restitutions attached.
The book is avaible at the bookshop Mare di carta, at Querini Stampalia’s bookshop or directly at Lazzaretto Nuovo.
