BIO-PHYTODEPURATION PLANT
Realized by Consorzio Venezia Nuova, it is a pilot project for the lagoon of Venice that was presented at Expo Hannover 2000.
It’s a sewage disposal plant that drains the polluting components through plants and vegetable oils decantation before pollution reaches the lagoon.
“The use of bio-phytodepuration plants as sewage disposal represents a very good choice to cope with the needs of small settlements, isolated and caracterized by strong variations in the volumes to treat. That’s the case of Lazzaretto Nuovo where it’s neccesary to use solutions of low environmenal impact because of the position of the island in the lagoon environment.”
